Boom lifts are available in 2 general kinds, the articulated boom lift and straight boom lift. Both these units are normally hydraulically powered. These lift units perform tasks that straight telescopic booms cannot complete. These lifts are practically like the straight boom lift in most aspects except in the ability of the boom to articulate. There are different articulation points on the boom in order to allow it to bend in a range of different directions allowing it to move easily around any objects within the work environment.



In order to maintain stability whilst the boom lift is fully extended, some heavy-duty boom lifts come equipped with outriggers. The outriggers provide the operator with some extra safety and confidence. Proper training is required prior to using boom lifts so as to ensure the operator, the jobsite and everybody working in the vicinity stays safe.
