Reach Truck
In order to keep storage places tidy and to pile up supplies and pallets of goods, a reach truck can be utilized. The reach truck is available in quite a few models: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The stand-up is the simplest. The forks of the truck slide underneath the pallet and move it to the correct storage place. The forks slide the pallet into position. This kind of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are just one pallet in depth.
The double-deep reach truck is like the stand-up, but is ideal for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods. This version has telescopic forks designed to position the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when another pallet should go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the added advantage of being able to not only slide under the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in many directions. This version is ideal in situations where goods would not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
Usually more than one type of reach truck is required in warehouses. Manufacturing facilities and textile companies utilize different kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to utilize and can increase productivity while maximizing available storage space.
