Change an LPG Cylinder
Forklifts are powered by various sources. They could run using LP gas or liquid propane, gasoline, diesel or battery. LP is a clean burning fuel ideal for numerous applications. There are some facilities that have large liquid propane supplies on site. This allows forklifts to be refueled whenever they need. In other places, the facility would have spare LP cylinders that could be changed out when the equipment must be refueled.
In order to prevent possible serious injury, specific precautions should be taken when changing out an LP cylinder. For example: be certain to wear the appropriate safety equipment such as goggles or safety glasses and heavy gloves. Turn off the forklift ignition before changing out the tank. Next, close the cylinder valve by turning it until it is firmly closed. Utilize your hand to loosen the hose connection to the tank. Remember that it would turn in the opposite direction of a normal connection and never use any type of wrench or a metal tool on these connections. They are meant to be tightened by hand only.
