Bud Bushnell established Genie Industries during the year 1966, after he bought the manufacturing rights to a material lift which operated on compressed air. The name Genie came from the "magic in the bottle" that was utilized to raise and lower the hoist. This mechanism greatly impressed a lot of clients and hence, the name was born.
Genie has moved into many new markets, since the demand for lifts and work platforms grew. Over time, as the requirements for new equipment to meet many applications grew, the company made itself recognized in numerous new markets. Like for example, Genie went into production with articulated booms, light towers, man-lifts, stick booms and telehandlers.
Due to the economic slump in the start of the 2000s, Genie decided to secure a partner who had the same values. They partnered up along with Terex Corporation. This company has a history obtaining equipment manufacturers all around the world who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold during the year 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
In the initial years after the sale, it was determined to maintain the Genie brand within the Terex Aerial Work Platforms or AWP segment of Terex, because of the name's solid reputation within the marketplace. Thus, all Genie equipment continue to be marketed under the Genie brand.
The company takes great pride in taking advice from and listening to their customers. Genie has always been continually devoted to improving the efficiency and quality in addition to lessening wastes. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company concentrates on providing outstanding support. These are the very work practices which have made Genie a trusted brand over the last decades and continue to keep their reputation for quality and top-of-the-line equipment.
Genie's DC and Bi-Energy machines are emission-free, quiet machinery capable of working in delicate work settings. Where the machinery must be driven significant distances, like for instance in industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the power of a diesel-powered generator together with the advantages of a 48V DC machinery.
Telescopic booms offer more horizontal reach, compared to any of the various aerial platforms. These machines are great for limited access areas or small areas in all types of settings. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been designed to offer utmost productivity. These machines deliver the drive speed and supreme traction you require in order to travel around the work site and job area.
